Um………………we would like to enter a Not Guilty plea, your honor.

PS: But seriously, we hope she’s OK.

From today’s Boston Globe:

BOSTON

A 36-year-old woman was hit on the forehead by a falling street sign yesterday at the corner of Hanover and Prince streets in the North End as a busy Easter church service was getting out about noon. The victim was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she reported feeling lethargic with neck pain, police said. The victim’s husband told police that the pair was crossing the street when the sign suddenly came flying down toward them. A Boston Emergency Medical Services spokeswoman said the woman suffered a small cut on her head and is expected to be all right. Boston Public Works and police are investigating.

And for good measure, so our picks are not influenced by the Golden Globe winners, here are our predictions for most of the 2009 Academy Award nominations(yes, we make predictions of predictions. )

STARTS & STOPS

Many awaiting movement on Green Line extension

Shocking. A state transportation project is missing a deadline, prompting concerns about delays. Round up the usual suspects.

OK, so maybe it’s not too surprising. But the Massachusetts Bay Turnpike Authority’s Green Line extension to Somerville and Medford is worthy of attention – one of the state’s highest priorities and among its most expensive public transit projects underway in the next few years.

We’re going to the Golden Globes tomorrow night!

Sure, we’ve still got New Year’s Eve tomorrow night, but it’s about that time to take stock of the best holiday parties in Boston this season (We’d also love to hear from you to see which companies threw the best bashes.)

Our #1 is the party our friends over at CondoDomain threw in the Fort Port Channel on A Street on December 18. More than 500 people, including two live DJ’s, gathered in the spectacular exposed-brick loft space for lots of food and drink. We had a fantastic time and thank our friends Erica (Queen of the CondoDomain Blog) and Tony for the invitation, and encourage everyone to check out the fantastic pictures at CondoDomain’s Facebook page!

Speaking of that WBZ video, it actually got a mention in the Boston Globe’s Names section this morning. Did the Globe mention the blog that originally discovered and posted the video?  No, of course not.

Let’s go to the video
WBZ’s Kate Merrill is becoming a YouTube star – and we all know that’s not good. Earlier this month, the Channel 4 reporter got her video uploaded for calling the embattled Chicago governor “Lavoyabitch.” (In her defense, Blagojevich is a mouthful.) Next, Merrill was cussed out live, on the air, by an f-bomb-dropping pedestrian after she yelled at him for crossing in front of her news van during a snowstorm. “Back to you,” she chirped brightly afterward, trying not to laugh. But anchor Jack Williams addressed the blooper head-on. “Another happy person in Boston, full of God’s love,” he boomed. So far, about 40,000 YouTubers have checked it out.

Got a lovely email from YouTube yesterday morning letting us know that CBS filed a copyright infringement claim on the video we posted two weeks ago. The clip caught an F-bomb being dropped on live coverage of the December 19 snow storm. We thought it was all in good fun. Or not.

CBS Broadcasting, Inc has claimed some or all audio and visual content in your video Random Dude Drops F-Bomb During Live Storm Coverage on Boston TV News. This claim was made as part of the YouTube Content Identification program.

Your video is no longer available because CBS Broadcasting, Inc has chosen to block it.

We’ll be in the timeout corner if you need us.

This is pretty self-explanatory.

And quite hilarious!

Kudos to Jack Williams for handling it with a sense of humor!

OK things have changed a little bit.

PS: In the first photo, Downtown is like, right there. But not.
